“I think this might be hopeless…”

Another day had passed, and after his morning spar with Brianna and magic practice with Marianne, Anthony had spent the rest of his time trying to plan the perfect date. He had been sitting on this blasted couch for the past hour thinking about what a perfect date entailed. In that time, he had considered and discarded numerous ideas.

Shopping didn’t seem like something the girls—barring maybe Secilia—would like. Dinner and a movie were a trite cliché. He had considered doing something fun like virtual laser tag or going to an arcade, but that didn’t scream a perfect date to him. Thinking about it, he had no idea what it meant to go on a perfect date. Did such a thing even exist?

He was at a loss.

He swiped his hand against the holographic screen projected in the air before him. The image changed several times. He was currently looking up dating information via a web search. The web was a place that contained all kinds of information on any subject a person could possibly think of, including dating advice. There was a list of places people could go on dates, advice on how to treat your date, and even a list of the dos and don’ts while on a date. Finding an idea to create the perfect date plan should have been easy.

Only it wasn’t.

The sound of footsteps reached his ears, though he didn’t turn his head. He knew who was coming into the living room just by how softly they walked and the distribution of weight when they took a step.

“Are you still having trouble coming up with dating ideas?” asked Marianne.

Like yesterday, she was wearing an apron over her clothes and walked around the house barefoot. He assumed she had been cleaning. As she sat down, her simple gown without embellishments ruffled, the ends riding up her legs.

Anthony sighed as he dismissed the holographic display. He grabbed Marianne’s legs and raised them up. She knew what he wanted and shifted on the couch as he brought her legs over to his lap. A slight but content sigh escaped her soft pink lips as he began kneading her left foot with his thumbs.

He had learned early on that Marianne’s feet were very sensitive. Feet were sensitive in general because of the nerves in them. The foot was responsible for maintaining a person’s balance, and the nerves served an important function to help with that. Marianne’s just happened to be more sensitive than most.

“I just can’t seem to think of anything,” Anthony admitted as he watched Marianne’s toes spasm. He felt a burst of pleasure through their bond. While this action was simple, the physical intimacy was enough that the small amount of mana he’d used today was quickly refilled. “Secilia said she was expecting our date to be amazing, but everything I can think of seems so… ordinary. What is an amazing date anyway?”

“D-don’t you think you’re… mmm… overthinking things?” asked Marianne. She had closed her eyes and was biting her lower lip.
